PAN leader Jorge Romero stated on September 1, 2026, that the party is confident in maintaining control of the governorships of Aguascalientes, Querétaro, and Chihuahua in 2027. ^[1] Maru Campos, Governor of Chihuahua, stated that she was the only state governor who did not attend the second official report of President Claudia Sheinbaum. ^[2] Senator Mario Vázquez, President of the Municipal Development Commission, proposed amending the Organic Law of the General Congress and the Senate Regulations to address accountability issues. ^[3] Jorge Romero attributed the PAN's potential electoral growth to internal work and the conflicts currently occurring within the Morena party. ^[4] Jorge Romero described the situation within the Morena party as a civil war that they do not even bother to disguise. ^[5] Jorge Romero estimated that the structural design of the Morena party contains the germ of its own self-destruction. ^[6] Maru Campos explained that her absence was due to recent political accusations and an offensive launched against her government. ^[7] Maru Campos stated that she felt the invitation to the event was not based on consideration because of the accusations made against her. ^[8] María Eugenia Campos Galván said that in the current times of polarization sown from the power, she could not expect authentically republican acts. ^[9] In June 2025, Maru Campos asked the federal government to hand over Rubén Rocha, governor of Sinaloa, who faces US accusations of alleged narco ties. ^[10] Maru Campos said she knows well when an invitation is out of commitment versus consideration and that her presence at the report would be uncomfortable for many, so she decided not to attend as an act of prudence and consideration for President Claudia Sheinbaum. ^[11] Governor Maru Campos reaffirmed her willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government for the benefit of the people of Chihuahua. ^[12]
