Colombian sculptor Gustavo Vélez is commemorating 30 years of artistic career with the exhibition 'Le Dimensioni dell'Equilibrio' in Pietrasanta, Italy, which is open to the public until September 20, 2026, and features more than 40 sculptures distributed across the city's most representative spaces. ^[1] Pietrasanta mayor Alberto Stefano Giovannetti announced during the inauguration that the municipality granted honorary citizenship (Cittadinanza Onoraria) to Gustavo Vélez, making him the third Latin American to receive the distinction after Fernando Botero (2000) and filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón (2014). ^[2] As part of the celebration, Vélez completed a monumental sculpture that he will donate to Pietrasanta; it will be installed in the coming months at the city's main entrance from the highway, within the International Open-Air Sculpture Park. ^[3] Gustavo Vélez said during the exhibition presentation that celebrating thirty years of artistic life in Pietrasanta reaffirms his commitment to the creative act and expresses gratitude to the city that transforms geometric rigor into a constant pursuit of freedom and visual poetry. ^[4] The exhibition titled 'Le dimensioni dell'equilibrio' will feature more than 40 sculptures created by Vélez over the last three decades. ^[5] The exhibition will run in Pietrasanta until September 20, 2026, in locations curated by Francesca Sborgi with contributions from Eike Schmidt. ^[6]
