According to police information, on 2026-08-04, a 17-year-old student in 11th grade boarded a sleeper bus from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Noida Sector 63, and the driver and conductor allegedly gang-raped her. ^[1] The mother of Kuldeep, the bus driver arrested for the alleged gang-rape of a minor girl on a sleeper bus, claimed that her son is completely innocent and is being falsely implicated. ^[2] On 2026-08-04, India's National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognisance of the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl aboard a moving bus in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. ^[3] Police said the bus driver Kuldeep, 39, and conductor Sandeep, 26, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl after she boarded the bus near Pari Chowk. ^[4] Based on the victim's statement, Delhi Police said that the incident occurred in Noida. ^[5] Kuldeep's mother appealed to the government to declare her son innocent, citing that he has a family with very young children and that they are poor. ^[6] According to media reports, the 16-year-old victim left home on 2026-08-04 without informing anyone and was traveling to Noida Sector 63, where her cousin lives, but mistakenly alighted at Greater Noida's Pari Chowk around 9pm amid heavy rain, still about 25 km from her destination. ^[7] The NHRC said on 2026-08-04 that the news report, if true, raises serious issues of human rights violations. ^[8]
