Chefette Restaurants announced the opening of its 14th outlet in Newton, Christ Church, Barbados, located adjacent to the Henry Forde Roundabout. ^[1] Back-to-school shopping in Barbados peaked in the week before the new school term, with parents making final purchases at retailers in Bridgetown. ^[2] Managing director Ryan Haloute stated that construction of the new multimillion-dollar restaurant commenced last month and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2027. ^[3] The new Chefette Newton facility consists of over 11,000 square feet of restaurant, drive-thru, and playground space situated on 80,000 square feet of land. ^[4] The new outlet is scheduled to create employment for 50 people, taking Chefette's total staff count to more than 1,100. ^[5] Abed warned that basic items and sizes were becoming scarce, with no hope of replacement inventory before January. ^[6] Eddy Abed, managing director of Abed's fabric and clothing store on Swan Street, reported that business had been busy and robust despite earlier stock delays. ^[7] Abed stated that some fabrics were delayed by as much as a month, but the delayed items were not marked up upon arrival. ^[8]
