A tugboat named A, weighing 286 tons, capsized in the sea approximately 9 kilometers southeast of Wolodo Island off the coast of Busan, South Korea. ^[1] A 50-year-old South Korean crew member was found unconscious by the Coast Guard rescue team and was later confirmed dead at a hospital. ^[2] Six crew members remain missing following the capsizing of the 'TNS Catcher' vessel. ^[3] Six crewmembers remained missing as of nightfall on September 2, 2025. ^[4] The 53-year-old Indonesian cook survived the capsizing by climbing onto the stern of the overturned tugboat and was rescued by the containership. ^[5] Eight people were known to be aboard the vessel at the time of the capsizing. ^[6] The Busan Coast Guard deployed available resources including patrol boats, an aviation unit, and the Central Marine Special Rescue Unit to conduct a full-scale rescue operation. ^[7] The incident was reported on the afternoon of the 2nd at 1:29 PM according to the Busan Coast Guard. ^[8] The 'TNS Catcher' vessel sank completely to a depth of approximately 87 meters within two hours of the capsizing. ^[9] The tugboat had a crew of eight, consisting of six Koreans and two Indonesians. ^[10]
