The preliminary board of the Mexican Senate elected Higinio Martínez Mirada of Morena as president of the Chamber with 116 votes in favor and one against. ^[1] The plenary of the Mexican Senate elected Higinio Martínez Miranda as president of the governing board for the third year of the LXVI Legislature. ^[2] Higinio Martínez, affiliated with the Morena party, was elected president of the Directives Table. ^[3] The Mexican Senate approved the integration of the Directives Table on Monday for the third year of exercise of the LXVI Legislature. ^[4] Higinio Martínez Miranda received 116 favorable votes out of 117 legislators present during the vote held by card. ^[5] The full chamber of the Mexican Senate approved the election of a new Presiding Board headed by Higinio Martínez Miranda on September 1, 2026. ^[6] The election also selected María Kantun, Alejandra Berenice Arias, Claudia Anaya Mota, Lizeth Sánchez, Simey Olvera, Geraldina Campusano, Juanita Guerra Mena, and Nestor Camarillo Medina as secretaries. ^[7] The vote utilized a ballot and urn system, electing a slate that included Verónica Camino, Mauricio Vila Dosal, and Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín as vice-presidents. ^[8] Laura Itzel Castillo was replaced as president and will assume the role of Secretary of Women. ^[9] Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín was elected to the vice-presidency of the Directives Table. ^[10] Senator Mauricio Vila Dosal of the PAN was elected as a vice president of the Mesa Directiva. ^[11] Higinio Martínez Miranda promised to conduct the upper chamber's work with impartiality, objectivity, and absolute respect for the voice of its 128 members. ^[12]
