A car bomb attack occurred at the Los Patios police station in the metropolitan area of Cúcuta, Colombia, leaving one person dead and 11 others injured. ^[1] A car bomb exploded at the Police Station of Los Patios in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, around 11:15 p.m. on August 31, causing structural damage and destroying surrounding vehicles. ^[2] One person died in the attack, identified as a Venezuelan national, while 11 others were injured, including two police officers. ^[3] George Edison Quintero Medina, the Security Secretary of Norte de Santander, stated that two police officers are in the most critical condition, with one having lost a lower limb and the other suffering shrapnel wounds to the neck and chest. ^[4] President Abelardo De La Espriella announced he would travel to Cúcuta to personally lead a Security Council meeting with the entire leadership of the Public Force. ^[5] The deceased victim was identified as a 35-year-old Venezuelan citizen who was walking in the area when the vehicle exploded. ^[6] Colonel Jimmy Arley Belalcázar Oñate, commander of the Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta, stated that one officer suffered the amputation of a lower limb and another was injured by shrapnel. ^[7] The device used in the attack was a vehicle that had been stolen the previous year and was reportedly painted yellow to pass as a taxi. ^[8]
