Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda reviewed the H1N1 influenza situation and healthcare preparedness in Delhi on 2026-08-21, with Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh in attendance. ^[1] India's Ministry of Health said it continues to coordinate with States/UTs, hospitals, laboratories, and other stakeholders to ensure effective surveillance, early detection, timely clinical management, and proactive preparedness for seasonal influenza, including H1N1. ^[2] J.P. Nadda, Union Health Minister, emphasized the need for continued vigilance, robust surveillance, and proactive preparedness, with close monitoring of influenza trends. ^[3] The review covered national surveillance, epidemiological situation, ILI and SARI trends, testing and laboratory surveillance, and preparedness of healthcare facilities to manage seasonal influenza cases. ^[4] Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the BJP, apologized to the families of students who lost their lives during NEET exam preparations, citing government failure as the cause. ^[5] Following a Supreme Court decision regarding NEET-related protests, the central government issued its first official response. ^[6] JP Nadda emphasized that the government's priority is the future of students and that no future strict action will be taken against them. ^[7] Union Minister JP Nadda stated that the government has fulfilled its promise to withdraw cases filed against protesters. ^[8]
