The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) prohibited the sale and ordered the market withdrawal of 20 weight loss products on September 2, 2026, due to the presence of sibutramine. ^[1] The Polish National Health Fund (NFZ) published a draft regulation proposing to eliminate the 1.05 correction coefficient used in settling payments for services in sanatoriums and health resort hospitals. ^[2] The Ministry of Health in Vietnam has issued guidelines directing the implementation of annual health checkups for students. ^[3] Laboratory analyses by the AEMPS confirmed that all 20 prohibited products contain sibutramine. ^[4] Sibutramine use is associated with increased heart rate and blood pressure, leading to cases of arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease, and severe vascular accidents. ^[5] The General Directorate of Judicial Police discovered the commercialization of these products through Operation Triki and shared this information with the AEMPS. ^[6] NFZ stated that the current financing mechanism for sanatorium services is not linked to the quality of the services provided. ^[7] Szymańczyk also said that removing the 1.05 coefficient would reduce sanatorium revenues by 5% while costs for medical staff, infrastructure, property taxes, and utilities keep rising. ^[8] The Union of Polish Health Resorts opposes the planned funding cuts and announced that it will petition the Polish Ministry of Health and the National Health Fund to maintain the current financing mechanism. ^[9] The guidelines mandate that students be counseled, monitored, or referred to medical treatment facilities when necessary based on checkup results. ^[10] The primary objective of these annual checkups is to evaluate initial health conditions and detect common diseases and disabilities prevalent among school-aged children. ^[11] Health screenings for preschool children include assessments of vital signs, nutrition, mental-motor development, vaccination records, and clinical examinations. ^[12]
