Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf said Iran will prevent Washington from reopening the Strait of Hormuz and will target vessels using routes authorized by the United States. ^[1] Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned in a video carried by Iranian media that Tehran would respond militarily if the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz intensifies. ^[2] Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament, said on Tuesday that Iran faces serious problems importing fuel and appealed to citizens to reduce gasoline consumption. ^[3] Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Tuesday that the United States will regret its new attacks on Iranian targets. ^[4] US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces began striking IRGC targets at 12pm ET on Tuesday, following recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members. ^[5] US President Donald Trump warned Iran that if it responds to the latest American strikes, it will be hit much harder and could be 'totally wiped out as a country' if the attacks go a third time. ^[6] Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that it fired back with a heavy ballistic missile attack on a US base in Jordan, claiming to have killed a large number of US forces. ^[7] A US missile strike killed at least five people and injured 68 others at a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak, Hormozgan province, southern Iran. ^[8] Iran is assessing the aftermath in terms of casualties and damage following a new flare-up in fighting after the US launched a series of deadly attacks on the Islamic Republic. ^[9] Tehran retaliated with drone-and-missile strikes against Gulf nations and Jordan in response to the US attacks. ^[10] Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf acknowledged that some ships managed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz despite the blockade, but said Iranian forces remain in complete control of the waterway. ^[11] Ghalibaf said that if gasoline is used properly, Iran can manage with the amount it produces domestically. ^[12]
