Castrillón Arango is accused of ordering the massacre of seven people on June 25, 2024, at a farm in El Hoyito, Rionegro, Antioquia. ^[1] The Governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, announced on Tuesday that Jhonatan Alexander Castrillón Arango, alias 'Pirry', was captured in Tarragona, Spain, by a joint operation of the Colombian National Police, DIJIN, DIPOL, and Spanish authorities. ^[2] President De la Espriella stated that 'Pirry' is the intellectual author of a massacre that occurred on June 25, 2024, in Rionegro, Antioquia, where seven workers were killed. ^[3] Among the victims of the massacre were Jesús Gabriel García Sarmiento, 39; Luis Guillermo Canoles, 32; and Marlon Luis Jhon Zárate, 33, all from Bohórquez, Campo de la Cruz, Atlántico. ^[4] Castrillón Arango is a leader of the criminal group El Mesa and is accused of fabricating, trafficking, and carrying firearms, conspiracy to commit crime, and international trafficking of drugs. ^[5] The president noted that 'Pirry' has a 22-year criminal record and was responsible for coordinating international drug trafficking to Europe, specifically Spain, France, and Italy. ^[6] The victims of the massacre included Jesús Gabriel García Sarmiento, Luis Guillermo Canoles, and Marlon Luis Jhon Zárate, three men from Bohórquez, Atlántico, who were traveling to Antioquia to work as masons. ^[7]
