On 2026-09-02, farmers from the Haryana Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha protested at the Kurukshetra district secretariat in Haryana, India, insisting on submitting a memorandum directly to the Deputy Commissioner. ^[1] Farmers under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Union and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha took out a march in Karnal on Wednesday demanding official paddy procurement start on September 15 instead of October 1. ^[2] During the protest on 2026-09-02, DSP Gurvindra Singh tried to persuade the farmers to give the memorandum to another officer because the Deputy Commissioner was busy, but the farmers refused, and the standoff lasted about an hour with police on alert. ^[3] Farmers from the Haryana Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha demanded that the 'Meri Fasal Mera Byora' portal be reopened, saying many farmers had been unable to register their crop details. ^[4] The Deputy Commissioner of Kurukshetra eventually arrived on 2026-09-02 and accepted the memorandum, after which the farmers ended their sit-in. ^[5] Faction's spokesperson Bahadur Singh Mehla said that since the arrival of PR varieties, which is procured by the government on MSP, is likely to start soon in large quantities, the authorities must start purchase. ^[6] The union announced they will hold a mahapanchayat in Pehowa on September 10 to discuss the issues and determine the next course of action. ^[7] The union demanded that milk prices be raised to ₹80 to ₹100 per litre, citing rising costs of cattle feed and other inputs as well as an increase in the price of sugarcane to at least ₹600 per quintal. ^[8]
