The Uttar Pradesh government issued an order on Monday extending the deadline for advance registration of students for the 2026-27 academic session and board examinations. ^[1] The Uttar Pradesh government has abolished the mandatory two-year waiting period condition for female government employees seeking maternity leave. ^[2] For students of Classes 10 and 12 appearing in the 2027 board examinations, the deadline for depositing exam fees through a consolidated challan has been extended to September 4. ^[3] The deadline for uploading students' educational details and registration information on the board's website has been extended until September 3. ^[4] The decision to extend the deadlines followed a proposal from the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad. ^[5] On September 2, the government issued an order under the Financial Rules Compilation Part-II Section-2 to remove the two-year mandatory gap linked to maternity leave. ^[6] The new order allows female government employees to avail of maternity leave without the previous mandatory two-year gap between leaves. ^[7] Under the old rules, a female employee had to wait at least two years after the completion date of one maternity leave before being eligible for the next leave. ^[8]
