Jonathan Meléndez was killed alongside his wife Ana Paola, who was four months pregnant, their three-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old housekeeper. ^[1] Jonathan Meléndez, a 38-year-old keyboardist, composer, and producer for the Mexican band Camilo Séptimo, was found dead in his residence in Atizapán de Zaragoza, Estado de México, on September 2. ^[2] Mexican authorities arrested two men on Wednesday as suspects in the multiple homicide of Jonathan Meléndez, a musician for the indie rock band Camilo Séptimo, and four others. ^[3] The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico confirmed the arrest of two men, Diego Sebastián "N" and Gerardo "N", for their probable participation in the multiple homicide of musician Jonathan Meléndez. ^[4] Another child of the couple, a six-year-old boy, was found alive and unharmed at the scene of the crime. ^[5] Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch reported that two suspects were detained within 12 hours of the incident. ^[6] Neighbors alerted police to gunshots and screams, leading officers to discover all victims with gunshot wounds and a deceased family pet. ^[7] The suspects were identified as Diego Sebastián "N", a business partner of the victim, and Gerardo "N", and were detained following a coordinated operation between the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM), the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC), and the Mexico City police. ^[8] Diego Sebastián "N" was identified as a partner of the musician and is suspected of being the probable author of the homicide of the musician's wife, the minor child, and the other people found in the property. ^[9] The homicide occurred on Tuesday, September 1, in an apartment located in the Grand Viure subdivision within the Zona Esmeralda neighborhood of Atizapán de Zaragoza. ^[10] Jonathan Meléndez communicated with a trusted friend before his murder, stating he would meet a business partner with whom he allegedly had financial differences, and instructed the friend to call authorities if he did not respond. ^[11] Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico, stated that one of the arrested suspects was a business partner of one of the victims who allegedly exploited that relationship of trust to enter the residence. ^[12]
