Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, a retired Supreme Court Justice of Mexico, participated in a forum organized by the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City on a Thursday. ^[1] Piña Hernández argued that the reform lacked a proper diagnosis and that the changes were not the solution to restructure justice in Mexico. ^[2] Piña Hernández stated that the judicial reform was not well thought out because it had to be reformed before its first year of validity to postpone the 2027 election. ^[3] Piña Hernández warned that the recent judicial reform in Mexico has created many red flags regarding legal certainty and the violation of judicial independence. ^[4] Norma Piña Hernández claimed that the official narrative positioned accusations of nepotism and generalized corruption without presenting legal evidence regarding irregularities attributed to the tribunals. ^[5] Norma Piña Hernández criticized the lack of prior diagnostic analysis of the justice system before the approval of the judicial reform. ^[6] Norma Piña Hernández mocked the use of accordions as a primary support for selecting members of the current Supreme Court of Justice. ^[7]
