The parliamentary bloc of Ahora Nation in Peru demanded the resignation of General Police Chief Oscar Arriola following a violent crime in Trujillo. ^[1] The Ahora Nation party in Peru is continuing its evaluation of a legislative powers bill presented by the executive branch. ^[2] Ahora Nation stated that the continuation of Oscar Arriola in the command of the National Police is unsustainable. ^[3] In the Trujillo incident, sicarios killed four people and kidnapped Robert Quezada, a mining businessman. ^[4] The political group asserted that legislative powers do not replace executive leadership, strategy, or decisions regarding internal order. ^[5] César Holguín, spokesperson and deputy for Ahora Nation, stated that the party is in a review process but has concerns about the clarity of the request for powers regarding security and El Niño. ^[6] The bill presented by the executive branch has as its main axes public security and the El Niño phenomenon. ^[7] The legislative powers bill promotes not only measures related to public security and the reinforcement of prevention and mitigation measures against the El Niño phenomenon, but also the modernization and digital transformation of the State, administrative simplification, the strengthening of micro and small enterprises, the promotion of employment, and the productive development of the country. ^[8]
