An explosive device detonated near the Municipal Police Command in Ojocaliente, Zacatecas, on the night of August 30, 2026, at approximately 20:00 hours. ^[1] The attack injured six civilians and one female police officer, who were transported to local hospitals for specialized medical attention. ^[2] The explosion caused severe structural damage to the police command station, destroyed 11 private vehicles, and destroyed two police patrol cars. ^[3] Security elements detained nine people, including five foreigners, during an operation in Agua Verde, Rosario municipality, Sinaloa, where they also secured high-powered weapons, tactical equipment, and suspected drugs. ^[4] Juan Manuel Zambrano, the municipal president of Ojocaliente, ordered the immediate cancellation of the 2026 Fair Queen coronation and the indefinite suspension of classes in all educational institutions in the municipality. ^[5] Among the people secured are two women, one of them a minor, four men of Colombian nationality, and one of Cuban origin; authorities did not disclose the nationality of the other four detained people. ^[6] The deployment included members of the Special Operations Group of Sinaloa of the State Preventive Police and elements of the Mexican Army, who entered the site and carried out the detentions. ^[7] The Secretaría de Seguridad Pública estatal reported that the intervention originated after reconnaissance work in the area identified a property where armed civilians were remaining. ^[8]
