At least 12 people were killed in and around Kyiv overnight during a sixth consecutive night of Russian drone and missile attacks. ^[1] The dismissal occurred after Russia attacked a munitions depot in a residential area near Kyiv on Friday, killing up to 38 people. ^[2] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Oleksandr Kamishin from his role as advisor for strategic industries and armaments on Monday. ^[3] Russian forces launched an aerial attack on Kyiv and its surrounding areas during the night of Monday to Tuesday, causing the death of at least 12 people and leaving more than a dozen injured. ^[4] Air defence shot down five Iskander ballistic missiles, two Banderol and five Kalibr cruise missiles and 187 out of 218 drones. ^[5] Eight of the dead were reported killed in Kyiv, including seven at a railway depot on the city's left bank, and four more in the surrounding region. ^[6] Ukraine's air force said Russia had attacked 28 locations, focusing on the cities of Kyiv, Odesa and their surroundings. ^[7] Kamishin had previously warned that munitions depots must be located in uninhabited zones following a separate Russian attack on July 6 that killed at least ten people. ^[8] The Russian strike caused numerous secondary explosions and destroyed civilian infrastructure, including a nursing home where most of the victims lived. ^[9] Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, the CEO of Ukrainian Railways, reported that a ballistic missile attack on a railway depot in Kyiv killed seven people, six of whom were company workers, while another employee was hospitalized. ^[10] The Ukrainian Air Force stated that the offensive began around 6:00 PM on Monday and lasted for several hours, utilizing more than 200 drones, approximately one-third of which were jet-propelled. ^[11] Ukrainian authorities have warned of a critical shortage of interceptor missiles, especially for US-made Patriot systems used to counter ballistic threats. ^[12]
