On Sunday, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Jamenei issued a written message, published on his Telegram account and official website and marking the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad's birth, urging rulers of the Persian Gulf to identify the United States and Israel as their 'true enemy' and to confront their plans. ^[1] Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation signed a joint statement in Bishkek condemning US and Israeli military strikes on Iran and Western sanctions on some of their members. ^[2] Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on 2026-06-25 that if the United States resumes its commitments under the June protocol agreement, the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately take reciprocal measures. ^[3] Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on 2026-09-01 during the 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek that the West Asia conflict must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than on the battlefield. ^[4] Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on 2026-04-01 during a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. ^[5] The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) concluded its summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with a declaration focusing on the war between the United States and Iran while omitting the Russian invasion of Ukraine from the final text. ^[6] In response to the US and Israeli offensive, Iran has attacked US military facilities in Washington's allied countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. ^[7] Jamenei also called for the progressive de-dollarization of Iran's economy and for boosting production to reactivate it, after months of US naval blockade and decades of international sanctions. ^[8] Jamenei identified the United States and Israel as enemies of everyone, not only of Iran, and called on regional leaders to understand their plan and combat it. ^[9] SCO members reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and advocated a resolution to the conflict solely through political and diplomatic means. ^[10] SCO members stated that US-Israel attacks on Iran violate the principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter and create serious risks to international peace, security, and stability. ^[11] The joint statement, called the Bishkek Declaration, was signed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. ^[12]
