Senator Andrés Forero stated that the Centro Democrático party is working on a new pension reform bill to address the problems left by the Gustavo Petro administration. ^[1] The Colombian Center Democratic Party is preparing a new legislative project to modify the pension reform introduced by the Gustavo Petro government, known as Ley 2381 of 2024. ^[2] Andrés Forero said the party intends to maintain positive aspects of the previous pension system while changing elements to solve problems for millions of Colombians. ^[3] The Centro Democrático reform proposal focuses on restoring freedom of choice within the pensional system. ^[4] Senator Andrés Forero of the Center Democratic Party stated that the new initiative would be submitted to the Colombian Congress within the next two weeks. ^[5] Senator Andrés Forero stated that the proposed reform aims to allow individuals who reach retirement age but do not meet the required contribution weeks to choose between receiving a lump-sum return of their savings or accessing a state-subsidized monthly pension. ^[6] The Colombian Constitutional Court recently upheld the majority of Ley 2381 but returned nine articles to Congress for discussion after nearly two years of lawsuits. ^[7] Andrés Forero stated that the party will maintain the 'Colombia Mayor' solidarity pillar, which was originally created by President Álvaro Uribe. ^[8]
