Eduardo Estrella, Minister of Public Works and Communications, outlined the Dominican Government's road infrastructure agenda aimed at improving connectivity and reducing congestion in Santo Domingo. ^[1] Residents of various sectors in the Greater Santo Domingo area reported electricity service interruptions starting Monday afternoon that extended until 6:40 AM on Tuesday. ^[2] The government is advancing improvements at Plaza de la Bandera, an underground connection with Avenida Isabel Aguiar and Avenida Luperón, and the entrance to the Duarte Highway at kilometer 9. ^[3] The infrastructure program includes 220 bridges, of which 51 are under construction, 21 are expected to be completed in three months, and 43 have been awarded. ^[4] The minister reported that 957 kilometers of roads are currently under construction, with another 141 kilometers expected to be completed within the next three months. ^[5] Affected areas included Naco, Los Peralejos, El Millón, the Zona Universitaria, Canastica, Manganagua, Hato Nuevo, Pablo Mella, Los Restauradores, the 13th and 14th kilometers of the Duarte highway, Pantoja, and various sectors of San Cristóbal. ^[6] Edesur Dominicana reported an 88.82% electricity supply level at 7:00 PM on Monday with 17 circuits out of service. ^[7] Users reported difficulties contacting Edesur Dominicana's customer service to learn the causes of the outages or receive restoration updates. ^[8]
