The Comisión Estatal del Agua y Gestión de Cuencas (Ceac) in Michoacán, Mexico, officially initiated the drilling of a deep well in the locality of Torrecillas, municipality of Churintzio, on September 1, 2026. ^[1] The Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil y Gestión de Riesgos (CEPCyGR) and the Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua) forecast light to moderate rain with strong storm intervals, lightning, and wind gusts across Oaxaca, Mexico, for Wednesday, September 2, 2026, mainly during the afternoon and evening. ^[2] Olivia Cazarez Arreola, general coordinator of the Ceac, stated that the work includes drilling a 250-meter deep well, constructing two sumps for sludge preparation, installing electrical records, and laying pipes. ^[3] The project is designed to provide direct benefits to 235 inhabitants of the locality by enabling access to potable water. ^[4] The total investment for the project is 3,697,000 pesos, with the Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua) and the Ayuntamiento de Churintzio each contributing 50% of the funds. ^[5] The coastal strip of Oaxaca will experience high waves and rough seas due to tropical storm Marie, located southwest of Baja California Sur, according to CEPCyGR and Conagua. ^[6] The forecast conditions are attributed to tropical wave 35 interacting with a monsoon trough and a low-pressure channel, according to CEPCyGR and Conagua. ^[7] Forecast temperature ranges for Oaxaca regions include 14-30°C in the Valles Centrales, 23-35°C in the Istmo de Tehuantepec, 23-33°C in the Cuenca del Papaloapan, 23-34°C on the Costa, 14-30°C in the Mixteca, 16-34°C in the Sierra de Flores Magón, 10-28°C in the Sierra de Juárez, and 12-29°C in the Sierra Sur. ^[8]
