Russia plans to open a second reintroduction center for Przewalski's horse in the Primorsky Nature Reserve on September 10. ^[1] The Thai people in Son La province organize the new rice harvest festival annually between May and June of the Thai lunar calendar, corresponding to September and October in the Gregorian calendar, to thank the heavens and ancestors for a successful harvest. ^[2] Eight individuals of Przewalski's horse will be placed in the new facility, divided into two family groups. ^[3] Viktor Nepomnyashchy, director of the reserve, stated that the horses will be returned to their historical home in the steppes rather than a cage. ^[4] A unique custom involves inviting 'four corners of the house and three corners of the kitchen,' representing brothers, neighbors, and close friends, to the ceremony to share joy and bring blessings for the upcoming season. ^[5] Essential items on the altar include steamed sticky rice from newly harvested crops and cooked carp, while chickens are strictly forbidden as offerings due to a traditional story about maternal love. ^[6] The ceremony features four specific trays of offerings: one for grandparents and parents, one for unmarried deceased relatives, one for maternal grandparents if the mother is alive, and one for the wife's parents if she is alive. ^[7]
