The Delhi High Court sought a response from the National Testing Agency and the Centre on a plea challenging the decision to re-conduct the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for the English subject. ^[1] Justice Jasmeet Singh of the Delhi High Court clarified on record that any individual with the financial capacity to pay ₹1 lakh can act as a surety for a candidate in the Delhi University Student Union elections. ^[2] Justice Jasmeet Singh issued a notice to the Central government and the National Testing Agency on a plea by candidate Parul Sheoran regarding the UGC-NET June 2026 examination. ^[3] The petitioner Parul Sheoran sought a court direction to quash the August 16 notice by the NTA directing the re-conduct of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for the English subject. ^[4] The plea claimed that the decision to re-conduct the examination was taken without disclosing the material forming its basis and without following the procedure prescribed under the UGC-NET June 2026 Information Bulletin. ^[5] The All India Students Association (AISA) filed a petition challenging the Delhi University decision to make the submission of a bond and signatures of parents mandatory for candidates. ^[6] The court allowed a modification to the rule, permitting any individual with ₹1 lakh liquidity to act as a surety, not just parents. ^[7] The Delhi High Court bench ruled that the condition requiring a bond and parental signatures is appropriate and correct. ^[8]
