A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja postponed a suit challenging President Bola Tinubu's participation in the 2027 Presidential election to September 28, 2026. ^[1] Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), instituted the suit against President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). ^[2] Lawyers representing opposing sides in a suit challenging President Bola Tinubu's eligibility to contest the 2027 presidential election disagreed on Tuesday on the service of the filings in the case on Mr Tinubu. ^[3] Atiku Abubakar is urging the Court to invoke Sections 137(1)(j), 139(1)(a)(i) and 285(14)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), as well as provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026 to determine whether Tinubu can participate in the election. ^[4] Omosanya Popoola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria standing for President Tinubu, announced his decision to accept Court process on behalf of his client and urged Justice Inyang Ekwo to order Atiku's lawyer to make the Court process available in open Court. ^[5] Atiku and the ADC argued that the certificate bears the name 'Tinubu Bola Adekunle', while the president is known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu. ^[6] Judge Inyang Ekwo adjourned the matter until 28 September for further mention. ^[7]
