An analysis of 200 recent articles in the behavioral and brain sciences found that appropriate evidence supported claims of a major sex-dependent effect less than 25% of the time. ^[1] Donna Maney, a professor of psychology at Emory University, stated that studies in psychology had the highest rate of appropriate evidence at 39%, while research in neuroscience had the lowest rate at 18%. ^[2] The analysis revealed that neuroscience reports on sex-dependent effects are currently being published at three times the rate seen in any other field. ^[3] The review found that 57.5% of the 200 articles did not statistically compare the sexes, meaning the researchers did not test the claim in the title at all. ^[4] Christine Ristaino, Professor of Practice in Italian Studies, and Hong Li, Professor of Pedagogy, observed that Emory University students were suffering from depression, anxiety, and food insecurity before the pandemic fully began. ^[5] The initiative resulted in the development of a website named 'Pandemic Noodles' which virtually linked students living and quarantining in over ten different countries. ^[6] The professors redesigned their course, 'Noodle Narratives on the Silk Road: A Cultural Exploration of China and Italy through Noodles,' to function as a technology-enhanced life-centered pedagogy. ^[7] Students were assigned a midterm cooking project requiring them to prepare a noodle dish with personal significance and write reflective essays about their relationship with food. ^[8]
