Approximately 100 companies are using the Dominican Republic to transport goods to Haiti due to the crisis and increased insecurity in the neighboring nation. ^[1] Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra (retd) was appointed as the first chief executive officer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. ^[2] Haitian Christian leaders residing in the Dominican Republic launched a proposal at the third national congress of the 'Haití Regresa' movement to help Haitians worldwide, especially those in the Dominican Republic, return and rebuild Haiti through prayer and solidarity. ^[3] Nelson Arroyo, Director General of Customs, stated that approximately 3,900 containers have transited through the Dominican Republic with destination Haiti this year. ^[4] Shipping lines are avoiding entry into Haiti, forcing merchants and importers to use warehouses in the border zone to deposit goods before moving them overland. ^[5] Mishra stated in an interview with HT that he served the Indian Air Force for 43 years, including time at the NDA, from age 17 until 60. ^[6] Mishra stated that his strategy would be developed under the guidance of the Trust and in collaboration with his team, emphasizing team spirit as the guiding principle. ^[7] According to press reports, the congress featured workshops, talks, and debates on four axes: prayer and repentance, unity and reconciliation, word of transformation, and proclamation and unification. ^[8] One of the main leaders of the initiative said the proposal aims to foster faith, devotion, and civic responsibility among Haitians and constitutes a national and spiritual refoundation of Haiti. ^[9] When asked about alleged donation theft, Mishra said he would not discuss the aspect and urged the organization to learn lessons from the past without being burdened by it. ^[10] The author described the proposal as a test of faith, Christian values, and patriotism for Dominicans. ^[11]
