Three active fires are currently burning in the municipalities of Viotá, Bojacá, and Guataquí in the Cundinamarca department. ^[1] Jorge Emilio Rey, governor of the Colombian department of Cundinamarca, reported on 2026-09-01 that three forest fires remain active in the department. ^[2] The Governor's office reminded the public that Circular 012 of 2026 is currently in effect and strictly prohibits agricultural burning. ^[3] Authorities in Cundinamarca said that the forest fire in the municipality of Viotá, which had been reduced by 98% the previous day, reignited during the night of 2026-08-31 to 2026-09-01. ^[4] On 2026-09-01, two other forest fires were active in Cundinamarca: one in the municipality of Bojacá and one that began in Nariño and later spread into Guataquí. ^[5] Governor Jorge Emilio Rey reported that the fire in Viotá was reduced by 98% the previous day but reactivated during the night. ^[6] The most critical fire is located in the vereda J.J. Merchán in Viotá, where 20 emergency response units are currently working to control the flames. ^[7] The regulation imposes sanctions on individuals or entities found to be in violation of the agricultural burning ban. ^[8]
