Judge William Sullivan of the Plymouth County Superior Court stated on Friday that he would delay formally declaring a mistrial for one hour to allow defense attorney Kevin Reddington to file an emergency appeal. ^[1] Lindsay Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling her three children-Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and 8-month-old Callan-to death with exercise bands in the basement of her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on January 24, 2023. ^[2] A jury of nine women and three men in the trial of 36-year-old Lindsay Clancy, charged with strangling her three children (aged five, three and eight months) to their Duxbury, Massachusetts home in January 2023, deliberated for seven days and failed to reach a unanimous verdict, prompting the Plymouth County Superior Court to declare a mistrial on 2026-09-04. ^[3] Defense lawyers in the trial argued that Clancy's mental health deteriorated severely after her youngest child's birth, and that at the time of the murders she was in a severe psychotic state, encountering a hallucination telling her to kill the children. ^[4] Prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy trial said she planned the crime, claiming she had her husband left the house to buy the children's medicine and the family dinner, leaving her alone with the children before strangling them. ^[5] Prosecutors presented testimony from a psychologist who concluded that Clancy planned to commit suicide and killed her children because she was convinced they would suffer without her. ^[6] Prosecutors said they do not immediately decide whether they will bring a new jury and retry Lindsay Clancy after the mistrial. ^[7]
