Rigoberto Urán, Colombian cyclist and entrepreneur, announced that the Giro de Rigo will be held in Cali, Colombia, on 2026-11-01, with a package of donations to support communities affected by the 2026-08-10 earthquake. ^[1] On September 2, 2026, Colombian cyclist Rigoberto Urán visited seven municipalities in the Valle del Cauca department to deliver 200 tons of aid to victims of the August 10 earthquake. ^[2] Alejandro Eder, mayor of Cali, said the city will require around 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid each week to assist families still receiving food markets. ^[3] Donations for the earthquake recovery include 90 tonnes of cement, 70 tonnes of adobe, 1,200 food markets, 10 tonnes of hydration products, and more than 15,000 units of food, contributed by Cementos San Marcos, Tiendas Ara, Postobón, and Colombina, with support from Banco de Occidente. ^[4] Rigoberto Urán said that with 11,000 people registered for the Giro de Rigo, he expects an economic spill of around 30 million dollars for Cali. ^[5] The aid delivery includes approximately 90 tons of cement, 90 tons of adobe, and supplies for over 1,200 markets. ^[6] The delivery of aid coincides with the upcoming Giro de Rigo cycling event, which is expected to generate $30 million in economic activity for the Valle del Cauca region. ^[7] Rigoberto Urán announced the opening of a new sports store in Cali and the potential launch of a sub-brand called La Finca de Rigo. ^[8]
