Researchers analyzed 89,605 Reddit posts from 739 users across eight mental health conditions to examine how self-disclosure language becomes visible and whether community engagement tracks it. ^[1] A Reddit user with the handle Eschewed_Prognostic stated that his wife's best friend from her native region divorced her husband after visiting the user's home. ^[2] An online Reddit discussion about which foods offer the best value for money has drawn attention amid rising food prices, with participants sharing tips on cost-effective grocery purchases. ^[3] One participant in the Reddit discussion praised eggs as an excellent choice because they provide many nutrients for little money and can be prepared in a hundred different ways. ^[4] Some participants advised buying a whole chicken instead of more expensive individual cuts, and also mentioned drumsticks, chicken thighs, and cheaper cuts of pork as more cost-effective meat choices, with the idea of using one purchase to provide meat for several meals supplemented with cheaper foods. ^[5] The author of the Reddit post favored peanut butter as the best value food, stating that for relatively little money it provides a lot of energy and protein, especially for physically active people. ^[6] A Reddit user with the username Headacheofthesoul95 posted a complaint about a sexual encounter with a man she had met after three dates. ^[7] Community engagement rarely tracked what users wrote, as only 9 of 360 language-engagement correlations survived statistical correction. ^[8] The authors conclude that disclosure is a waypoint in an unevenly visible process where engagement metrics do not reflect clinical need. ^[9] The study found that language-visible burden was highest in the month before disclosure for six conditions, with timing varying by diagnosis. ^[10]
