The Public Ministry of Peru reported that the average number of kidnapping complaints reached 428 per month as of July 31, 2026. ^[1] The Peruvian Geophysical Institute (IGP) reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in the Junin region on September 1, 2026. ^[2] The road network recovery operations in Cali resumed after a temporary suspension caused by the attention required for the earthquake that occurred on August 10. ^[3] Artisans in Junín exhibited pieces created during the workshop 'Applied Painting Techniques to Craftsmanship: Flowers and Birds of the Valley' held from August 24 to 26. ^[4] The earthquake occurred at 2:57 AM with a depth of 9 kilometers. ^[5] The IGP report indicated no material damage or population impact as a consequence of the earthquake. ^[6] Daniel Montoya, the Secretary of Infrastructure for Cali, explained that the emergency generated delays in the activities carried out by the department. ^[7] Sixteen crews from the Secretary of Road Infrastructure are working in different sectors of the city, performing tasks such as pothole repair, sidewalk construction, debris collection, and painting pedestrian bridges. ^[8] Currently, 14 crews work during the day and two others work at night, allowing the maintenance of different operations simultaneously. ^[9]
