On September 2, gasoline prices in the Netherlands reached a historic high of 2.666 euros per liter. ^[1] Eurostat, the European Union, and the Eurozone released producer price index data for July. ^[2] Eurostat released a preliminary assessment on September 3 stating that industrial producer prices in the eurozone rose by 5.8% year-on-year in July, accelerating from 4.6% in the previous month. ^[3] Eurostat reported that 60% of people aged 25 to 34 in Cyprus had completed tertiary education in 2025. ^[4] Fuel prices in the Netherlands surged due to the war in Iran that began in late February and ongoing shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. ^[5] In May, fuel and lubricant prices across the European Union increased by an average of 20.7 percent. ^[6] A 5.6% increase in energy prices was the primary factor driving the monthly rise in producer prices in the Eurozone. ^[7] In the European Union, producer prices increased by 1.4% on a monthly basis and 5.6% on a yearly basis in July. ^[8] At the European Union level, producer prices registered an annual increase of 5.6%. ^[9] Energy prices in the eurozone increased by 12.9% year-on-year, contributing significantly to the overall rise in producer prices. ^[10] Ireland reported the largest annual increase in producer prices at 14.8%, followed by Lithuania at 12.9% and Bulgaria at 12.5%. ^[11] Cyprus had already exceeded the EU's 2030 target of 45% by a considerable margin in 2025. ^[12]
