The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) in Mexico activated the Sistema Integral de Recepción Automatizada Judicial (SIRAJ) system on a Monday to digitize the reception of legal documents. ^[1] The new system generates an electronic folio, records the date and time of receipt, and issues a receipt with a QR code for tracking via the SCJN portal. ^[2] The SIRAJ platform allows users to submit written documents, promotions, and requests digitally without needing to present physical copies to obtain a receipt. ^[3] According to data from the National Security Cabinet reported in April, actions against fuel smuggling operations have generated an economic impact exceeding 301 billion pesos on criminal organizations. ^[4] Erik Rubí, a lawyer specialized in financial penal matters, explained that fiscal evasion, contraband, and organized crime are legally distinct concepts with different elements and consequences. ^[5] Legal experts warn that investigations can extend beyond the importer to include transporters, distributors, and buyers based on reconstructed payments, invoices, and commercial relationships. ^[6] The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) reviewed resources related to businessman Édgar Marín Meza Moreno, who is linked to Impulsora de Productos Sustentables, regarding the alleged smuggling of 21.5 million liters of diesel valued at approximately 173 million pesos. ^[7] The SCJN receives more than 400 daily promotions through judicial windows and common correspondence offices, a volume the new system aims to modernize. ^[8]
