Higinio Martínez, President of the Senate of Mexico, stated that the Morena parliamentary group is reshuffling its positions and committee integrations because Senator Enrique Inzunza has left the group. ^[1] Senator Enrique Inzunza announced on August 26 that he was leaving the Morena parliamentary group in the Mexican Senate to declare himself an independent. ^[2] Higinio Martínez warned that Senator Enrique Inzunza, who currently presides over the Legislative Studies Commission, may lose that presidency because he no longer has a parliamentary bench. ^[3] According to Article 104 of the Organic Law of the General Congress of the United Mexican States and Article 122 of the Senate Regulations, the removal of a senator from a parliamentary group is the exclusive faculty of the parliamentary groups. ^[4] Enrique Inzunza has not submitted the legal documents required to leave the Morena parliamentary group or notified the Senate's Presiding Board. ^[5] Higinio Martínez emphasized that Morena is reviewing not only committee presidencies but also the integration of committees due to the movement within the party. ^[6] The Morena parliamentary group is currently waiting for information on whether other senators currently on leave will return before making final decisions on committee assignments. ^[7] The Morena parliamentary bench agreed on August 25 to request Inzunza's departure from the group after three days of pressure via WhatsApp chats to avoid controversy affecting the party. ^[8]
