Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy stated on Monday that the Karnataka government must address the KPSC recruitment scandal, calling it a national embarrassment. ^[1] Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge stated on 2026-05-18 that he is ready to retire from politics if his direct or indirect role in the alleged Karnataka Public Service Commission recruitment irregularities is proved. ^[2] H D Kumaraswamy stated that the automotive sector workforce must adapt to new technologies to secure meaningful employment. ^[3] IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar was arrested by the CID in the case, which is currently before the Karnataka High Court where 12 hearings have taken place so far. ^[4] The controversy centers on alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Assistant Executive Engineers (Grade-I) and Veterinary Officers, including claims that candidates sat for exams at resorts and OMR sheets were manipulated. ^[5] H D Kumaraswamy stated that the government is actively pushing to promote electric mobility and strengthen domestic manufacturing in the automobile and auto components sectors. ^[6] Kumaraswamy urged the auto industry to keep growth broad-based rather than allowing it to become concentrated in specific areas. ^[7] The politician emphasized that the industry must focus its efforts on Indian customers to ensure the success of these manufacturing initiatives. ^[8]
