A Russian medical instructor with the call sign Miguel stated that a Ukrainian Armed Forces FPV drone with a thermobaric warhead targeted a medical outpost in the Special Military Operation zone. ^[1] Miguel stated that the FPV drone struck a dry branch near the entrance of the medical outpost and detonated outside. ^[2] An anonymous Ukrainian fighter pilot told the outlet Waypoint that jet-powered Shahed drones remain difficult but viable targets for crewed fighter jets despite the high cost involved. ^[3] Miguel explained that if the thermobaric warhead had penetrated the underground facility, it would have caused a fire making it impossible to save the soldiers inside. ^[4] Miguel reported that the medical outpost was located in an empty basement disguised as a pile of construction debris to avoid detection by enemy reconnaissance drones. ^[5] The pilot identified funding, both from partners and locally, as Ukraine's Achilles heel, noting that many initiatives must pass through a hundred procedural councils. ^[6] The pilot stated that Ukraine's main constraint against jet-powered Shahed drones is funding and procedural delays, rather than a failure of its layered air defense system. ^[7] The pilot, who runs the social media channel 'Sonyashnyk', argued that focusing on the small number of drones that get through overlooks the far larger number destroyed before they reach populated areas. ^[8]
