Police said a man believed to be in his 20s has been shot dead during a home invasion south of Sydney. ^[1] The man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. ^[2] NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man for gunshot wounds at the scene in Merrylands West, Sydney, but he died at the scene. ^[3] Emergency services were called to a Glen Alpine home in the city's south-west at about 3:45am. ^[4] Acting Superintendent Gretchin Atkins stated that police believe the incident was a targeted attack. ^[5] Emergency services found the victim with a gunshot wound at the scene around 3:40 am on Tuesday. ^[6] Police confirmed there were multiple alleged perpetrators behind the attack who fled the scene before officers arrived. ^[7]
