Between 2018 and 2022, the Dominican Republic improved in all three PISA areas: mathematics increased by 14 points, reading by 9 points, and science by nearly 25 points. ^[1] Comparing the Dominican Republic directly with high-income OECD economies is challenging due to significant differences in economic, social, and cultural conditions. ^[2] The OECD will release the first results of PISA 2025 on September 8, 2026. ^[3] Beatriz Hevia, a lawyer and member of the Presidential Advisory Commission for a New State Architecture, stated that reducing the number of ministries is only one tool and not the sole objective of reform. ^[4] Hevia argued that state reform must also aim to eliminate duplicities, integrate information, simplify procedures, establish clear responsibilities, measure results, and strengthen management. ^[5] Regarding satisfaction with administrative services, Chile reaches 48%, while the OECD average is 68%. ^[6] The Chilean state has grown significantly in terms of ministries, subsecretaries, and public services, but this expansion has not necessarily improved the citizen experience or satisfaction. ^[7] The article states that the commitment of the teachers' union to the learning of children is fundamental for achieving better results in national and international evaluations. ^[8]
