The Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics published Special Report 2027-01 identifying 16 executive branch agencies and 31 municipalities that had not designated a representative to the Statistics Coordination Committee (CCE) as of 2026-08-31, despite follow-up requests since January 2026. ^[1] Puerto Rico's Instituto de Estadísticas reported that, according to its Special Report 2027-01, 31 municipalities and 16 agencies had not designated a representative to the Comité de Coordinación de Estadísticas (CCE). ^[2] Orville M. Disdier, Executive Director of the Institute of Statistics of Puerto Rico, said that compliance with CCE designation is indispensable for Puerto Rico to have complete, reliable, and fast-access statistics, and that the Institute conducted an extraordinary campaign since early 2026 to promote and oversee compliance, resulting in a considerable increase in designations from less than 50% of agencies previously. ^[3] The report shows that 14.8% of executive agencies (16) and 39.7% of municipalities (31) are in non-compliance, with a total of 186 entities, 139 (74.7%) in compliance and 47 (25.3%) not. ^[4] The Instituto de Estadísticas said it will continue notifying the noncompliant entities and could recommend corrective measures, including fines of up to $4,000 per infraction. ^[5]
