The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Infectious Diseases Society of America each released updated vaccination guidelines for flu, COVID-19, and RSV for their patient populations, filling a gap left by the CDC. ^[1] Professional organizations representing pediatricians, family physicians, obstetricians, and other medical professionals jointly released guidelines on 2026-01-15 for who should receive vaccines aimed at preventing influenza, Covid-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) this coming winter. ^[2] An analysis by the Vaccine Integrity Project at the University of Minnesota, published in JAMA, said flu vaccination reduces hospitalizations among older adults by 31%. ^[3] Christina Davidson, MD, of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said there is no evidence that COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage or other problems, and urged pregnant women to get the vaccine. ^[4] The four medical groups said they hope the guidelines ease confusion caused by the Trump administration's changing advice on vaccines. ^[5] Robert F. Kennedy Jr., longtime vaccine critic and health secretary, fired the ACIP members and largely replaced them with vaccine skeptics in June 2025. ^[6] The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists extended the period during which pregnant people can receive an RSV vaccine to March 1, up from the previous deadline of January 31, because recent RSV seasons have started later and run longer. ^[7] The combined effort was undertaken in conjunction with the University of Minnesota's Vaccine Integrity Project to help medical professionals guide patients and individuals plan for vaccinations to evade ailments or minimize severe illness risks. ^[8]
