The Banjarnegara Cultural Heritage Expert Team proposed the Mangulihi Inscription and Nandisawahanamurti Statue from the Dieng area in Central Java for national cultural heritage status in 2026. ^[1] Deputy Culture Minister Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina presented the 'Nostos 2026' support scheme on Tuesday aimed at safeguarding heritage in occupied communities in the north. ^[2] The Mangulihi Inscription documents a well-organized system for managing places of worship in the past and demonstrates the literacy skills of people living in the Dieng area at the time. ^[3] The Nandisawahanamurti Statue depicts a human-bodied bull serving as the mount of the Hindu god Shiva, a rare form suggesting ancient Dieng had advanced cultural, architectural, and intellectual capabilities. ^[4] Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina said the plan aims to transmit the elements of the cultural mosaic of occupied land to the second and third generations of refugees to achieve intergenerational continuity. ^[5] Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina stated that the goal of the project is the cultural protection of occupied communities, with projects aimed at preservation, documentation, and the highlighting of tangible cultural heritage. ^[6] The 'Nostos 2026' scheme amounts to €100,000 and was drawn up in consultation with the union of occupied communities. ^[7]
