Nepal's tourism minister Khadak Raj Paudel urged international tourists to maintain their travel plans to the country despite recent deadly floods. ^[1] Recent floods in Nepal left more than 1,000 people dead and 4,000 missing according to government data. ^[2] The Parliament of Nepal approved a special proposal declaring climate change a threat to national security following devastating floods that killed more than 1,000 people and left 4,000 missing. ^[3] The Nepal Tourism Board reported that 583 foreign travelers are listed as missing after the floods, including 178 Indians, 55 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 51 Malaysians, 35 Australians, and 33 Britons. ^[4] Tourism cancellations for the peak season have reached 20% of total reservations, down from over 90% before the disaster. ^[5] According to the parliamentary balance, more than 500 disasters occur in Nepal every year, causing significant human and material losses. ^[6] Dol Prasad Aryal, president of the chamber, stated that Nepal is extremely prone to disasters due to its geography, geological structure, unplanned development, and climate change. ^[7] The Nepal Tourism Board reported that 583 foreign travelers are missing in Nepal after the floods, with Indians being the largest group at 178 missing. ^[8] Mandip Giri, managing director of the Dom Himalaya hotel in Nepal, said on 2025-09-02 that reservations for the September-November peak tourist season had been above 90% but that 20% of them have been canceled so far. ^[9]
