The Kuwaiti military said in a statement published on X (formerly Twitter) that its air defenses were activated in response to attacks by missiles and drones early Thursday. ^[1] The Kuwaiti military stated early Wednesday that its air defense systems intercepted drones originating from Iran. ^[2] In the same statement, the Kuwaiti military said its air defenses were currently repelling hostile missile and drone attacks, describing them as resulting from 'Iranian aggression'. ^[3] This was the second consecutive day that Kuwait was attacked, as reported by CNN. ^[4] The Kuwaiti military communicated via X that its air defenses faced attacks from hostile unmanned aircraft as a consequence of Iran's condemnable aggression. ^[5] The US resumed attacks by bombing the Iranian island of Larak, from where Tehran was preparing to launch rockets loaded with naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz. ^[6] Two people died in the US airstrike on the island of Larak. ^[7] Brent crude oil prices remained unchanged at $95.60 per barrel, while WTI rose 0.15% to $91.15. ^[8] Japan's Nikkei 225 remained nearly unchanged, while the Topix gained 0.8%. ^[9] The Japanese yen strengthened to 158.55 per dollar after rising 0.9% the previous day. ^[10] US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urged Japan to maintain prudent monetary policy to stabilize inflation expectations. ^[11]
